Act One

Animorph - This was the first project I did in Fashion & Textiles at college and it’s still one of my favourites. I based my project on Flamingos and after the six weeks I came out with a very pink sketchbook and a giant hat inspired by Philip Treacy and Alice in Wonderland.

The main hat was inspired by Philip Treacy so I emailed his website to let him know and show them the hat and also asked them if I could have any work experience. They needed to see some examples of hand sewn work so I made this fascinator all from hand sewn techniques and I'm now on the waiting list for some work experience.

Act Two

Flights of Fancy- This project was all about machinery, old flying machines and rusting cogs. I created multiple textile samples and really enjoying playing around with different techniques. My idea was that you could create a fairy-tale from anything so my final designs were two ball gowns which were worn at the end of year fashion show.

Interval

Smile Box- For my enrichment in college I created a ‘Smile Box’. The theme was Identity, a big part of my identity is smiling and one of my favourite things to do is make people smile. The box itself is made from reclaimed wood as I feel like I’ve been given a second chance at life since I’ve got better from severe M.E so I wanted to give the wood a new life too.

Act Three

Diva Deva- This project was based on the City of Chester which was founded as a fort known as Deva by the Romans in AD79, mixed with different views of what a Diva is. So I produced two concertina sketchbooks filled with drawings and samples and then a final illustration with bold patterns like on the buildings in

Chester.

Act Four

Constructing Trends- This was a really interesting project looking at how fashion is communicated to different markets and how trends come about as well as pattern cutting. I then picked the Ballet Russe as my theme and created a dress from my own pattern inspired by the Ballet Russe and the English National Ballet’s Le Corsaire. I created a magazine with all my research and designs in instead of a sketchbook to explore a different way of presenting.

Act Five

Theatre- I love going to the theatre and watching shows and I’ve recently been given the opportunity to create costumes for Tip Top Productions North West pantomime Dick Whittington. I’ve made the jacket for Dick Whittington as well as costumes for different characters, helped with fittings and adjustments and I’m also helped at the performances with costume changes for the Dame and the cast.
